Kansas City Mayoral Race

I chose not to get involved in this year’s critically important Kansas City Mayoral race due to the health of a good friend and former candidate Albert Reiderer.  As you may recall, Albert ran 4 years ago finishing 3rd and barely missing the runoff between Mark Funkhouser and Alvin Brooks.  If he had made that runoff I am convinced that he would be Mayor today.  And convinced that Kansas City would be in a far better place

Tuesday’s primary offers voters many good choices to change the direction of the city and send Funkhouser and his wife packing.  It’s hard for me to believe that there are people still out there who think he has done anything more than a terrible job of leading the city.  At a time when voters are also being asked to support the earnings tax, it would not surprise me to see them vote no on the earnings tax because city leadership has been such a joke.

Kansas City cannot afford 4 more years of embarrassment and failed leadership.  Vote Tuesday February 22 for any of the fine candidates not named Mark Funkhouser.
